The SSI Deep Diving Specialty course is a comprehensive program designed to expand your diving limits while maintaining the highest safety standards. Over two days, you'll complete a combination of classroom theory sessions and 2-3 supervised open water dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet).
The academic portion covers the physiological effects of deep diving, including nitrogen narcosis, decompression sickness, and oxygen toxicity. You'll learn advanced gas management techniques, dive planning for deeper profiles, and how to use specialized deep diving equipment. The course also addresses emergency procedures specific to deep diving environments.
During the practical dives, you'll practice buoyancy control at depth, navigation techniques for deep sites, proper ascent rates, safety stop procedures, and emergency response drills. Each dive is conducted under the direct supervision of a certified SSI Instructor who provides real-time feedback and skill refinement.
Upon successful completion, you'll earn the SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification, allowing you to plan and execute dives to 40 meters independently.
