📖 Course Overview
The SSI Discovery Scuba Diving program is the perfect introduction to the underwater world for complete beginners. In just half a day, you'll progress from complete novice to experiencing the magic of breathing underwater on a guided ocean dive.
The program begins with a classroom theory session where you'll learn the basic principles of scuba diving, including how pressure affects your body, how to use scuba equipment, and essential safety rules and hand signals. Your SSI-certified instructor will ensure you understand everything before moving to the water.
Next comes the pool training session in a shallow, confined water environment. Here you'll practice fundamental scuba skills: breathing through the regulator, clearing your mask, recovering the regulator if it falls out, and communicating with hand signals. Your instructor provides hands-on guidance as you build confidence in a safe, controlled setting.
Finally, you'll head out for your guided ocean dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet). Under the direct supervision of your instructor, you'll explore Gili Trawangan's vibrant coral reefs, encountering tropical fish, turtles, and other marine life. Your instructor will be right beside you throughout the dive, ensuring your safety and helping you spot amazing creatures.
Upon completion, you'll receive recognition of your Discover Scuba Diving experience, and this can be credited toward the full Open Water Diver certification if you decide to continue your scuba journey.
