📖 Course Overview
The SSI Open Water Diver course is the world's most recognized and popular entry-level scuba certification program. Over three days, you'll progress from complete beginner to certified diver through a combination of academic learning, confined water training, and open water dives.
The course begins with academic sessions covering dive theory, including physics (pressure, buoyancy), physiology (how pressure affects the body), equipment selection and maintenance, dive planning, and safety procedures. You'll learn using engaging digital materials that make complex concepts easy to understand.
Next comes confined water training in a pool or shallow protected area. Here you'll master essential scuba skills: setting up your gear, mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, underwater communication, emergency procedures, and proper finning techniques. Your instructor provides hands-on guidance and feedback as you build muscle memory.
Finally, you'll complete four open water dives in the ocean under direct instructor supervision.
